PETRONAS USHERS IN THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS THROUGH A SPECIAL WEBFILM


KUALA LUMPUR, 27 October 2016 – PETRONAS today launched a special webfilm to mark and celebrate the upcoming Deepavali. 

This year’s Deepavali webfilm, “I am Muniandy”, conveys the message that one should never let appearances cloud one’s perception of others, while at the same time carrying positive universal  values of tolerance, mutual respect and kindness for harmony and unity. 

The webfilm tells the story of a young Muniandy and his friend whose good intentions are misperceived and misinterpreted.  The story follows the two friends in their plan to help an old folks home prepare for Deepavali celebrations. However, along the way in the execution of their plan they meet with general suspicion, arising from society’s misperception and prejudices.  

PETRONAS Senior General Manager of Group Strategic Communications, Zahariah (Liza) Abd Rahman said: “For every major festival in our multi-racial Malaysia, we at PETRONAS look forward to bringing to all Malaysians festive campaigns that celebrate the beauty and diversity of our multi-racial culture and traditions.

“It is our hope that our efforts since the past two decades have helped, and will continue to help, bring Malaysians closer together.

“The story of ‘I am Muniandy’ reminds all of us of the importance of always seeing the best in others, and to allow the light in our hearts to guide us to the truth,” she added.
