PETRONAS SHARES INTEGRITY PROGRAMME WITH FOREIGN DELEGATES

PETRONAS received about 100 international delegates and their domestic counterparts to a knowledge exchange session on the topic of Integrity and Good Governance at Impiana Hotel Kuala Lumpur on 1 October 2015.
 
The envoys, hosted by Transparency International Malaysia (TI-M), consisted of experts and working group committee members who convened for a 3-day meeting to discuss the ISO Certification for Anti-Bribery Management System Standard beginning 28 September.
 
PETRONAS’ Chief Integrity Officer, Datuk Samsiah Abu Bakar said that the session provided a platform for networking and sharing of PETRONAS’ corporate governance practices as well as to obtain new approaches for further improvement.
“We are delighted to be part of the sharing session with the international delegates. This is a positive development to PETRONAS’ continuous efforts in implementing our integrity programme within the organization,” she added.
 
PETRONAS’ Head of Corporate Governance and International Compliance Unit, Ahmad Nabil Azizan presented PETRONAS Corporate Integrity Agenda covering governance programmes like the Vendor Integrity Programmes, Whistleblowing Policy and No Gift Policy, which have been put in place to ensure integrity in PETRONAS’ business operations.
 
President of TI-M, Dato’ Akhbar Satar who moderated the question and answer session said TI-M recognizes that the business community has an important role to play in upholding integrity.
 
“PETRONAS is an exemplary corporation with an active integrity programme in place. This commitment has elevated PETRONAS internationally and they ranked fifth among 100 countries sampled in the Transparency in Corporate Reporting (TRAC) 2013. We hope that more corporations will follow suit, communicating to the world that Malaysia is a country that takes corporate integrity and good governance seriously,” he added.
 
Other presenter at the session was Chairman of ISO/PC 278, Anti-Bribery Management System Standard, Neill Stansbury who presented on the International Standard essentials and requirements, which are key in establishing a culture of integrity, transparency, openness and compliance.
